NOVEMBER IS OVER! JANAM AND MOCK-OSCE

It has been quite a cold and rough start for winter this year. Earlier this academic year, storm Ophelia hit Ireland and vast amount of its land were affected with the electricity got cut and few buildings were destroyed. But luckily things did not go that bad in Cork. We should be grateful that we were safe from the what is said the worst storm ever hit Ireland in 50 years.

Bad memories aside, now it is already the beginning of December. At least 3 months had passed and a lot of things and event already happened. But today, I would like to talk about the events that were carried out by PPMC in November which are Janam and also Mock-OSCE.

Janam was held on Friday the 17th November 2017. It was held simultaneously for both boys and girls at different places. A little bit information about Janam. It is previously known as Kabhi. So many people thought that the name of the programme was taken from the famous Bollywood movie "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham". So the previous PPMC Committee member decide to change the name to Janam which is taken from the main song of another famous Bollywood movie last year, Dilwale. What is Janam? So, basically Janam is a spiritual gathering for muslim students in Cork to  have a discussion known as "halaqah" and also share islamic knowledge and reminders among the participants. To make it feel more casual, food such as biscuits and cakes were served and participants can enjoy the food while engaging with the discussion.

Another event that happened last month was Mock-OSCE. This is held to prepare the current third year medical students for the real OSCE exam. It is a simulation of how the real OSCE test will take place with the help of the Fourth and Fifth year medical students as the examiners and the Second and First year medical students as the patients. Mock-OSCE has always been carried out every year because it is a great exposure for the students who will be sitting for the test in the future. This year, it was held on 25th November 2017 in Brokefield building. Many third year students participated in the event which shows that the event has such a big reputation among students.

That's it for now. We hope that our events bring benefits to those who attend. Good luck for the finals and have a lovey and well deserved Christmas and winter break every one.
