PPMC Summer Photography Competition 2017

Assalamualaikum wbt and Hello everyone!

The highly reputable PPMC photography competition is back. Are you guys stoked?! The theme for this competition shall coincide with the season in time.

apricate

v. 1690s

"to bask in the sun," from Latin apricatus, past participle of apricari
"to bask in the sun," from apricus
"exposed" (to the sun); perhaps contracted from *apericus, from aperire "to open."
Transitive sense is recorded from 1851.

Summer is a time for all creatures, great or small to bask in the heat of the majestic sun. This is a great opportunity for yourself to feel the heat on your skin as you venture out on your well deserved summer break and hunt for the perfect scene to photograph. Your subject may be a person, an animal or even plants. Be creative in delivering your message.

Simply google for images of 'basking in the sun' for inspiration.

How to enter
Simply email your photos to ppmc2013@yahoo.ie (maximum of five photos per person and only send YOUR OWN PHOTOS; plagiarism is a crime) before midnight of 1st September 2017.
In the email, include your full name, course, photo title, and 20 words max of photo description (story behind it, relatable quotes, poems, etc)

So how is my photo going to be judged?

30% of judging marks will be determined by viewers.
All photo submissions will be uploaded on Cork Malaysian Student Association Facebook page by 3rd September, and the number of likes your photo(s) get will contribute to 30% of judging marks. However, the identity of contestants will be anonymous to avoid bias. Viewers are given a week (until midnight of 10th September) to like the uploaded photos before the number of votes are finalized. The remaining 70% professional judging marks are made based on content, aesthetics, technicality and of course, originality.

One last message here; it is utterly important for all submitted photos to be closely associated with the theme. Remember, aesthetics is one of the main criteria for judging marks by professional judges. Failure to do so will result in zero (0) marks for that component.
The best 3 photos will be crowned as winner (thus having 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) and will be given mystery prizes.

Rules
1) This competition is opened to all PPMC members.
2) No limit to the number of photo submissions
3) Photos can be taken using DSLR, compact digital camera, phone camera etc.
4) Only minimum editing is allowed.
