Simple tips to take better travel photos

Hey guys, as promised here are some simple tips that you can apply when you go on your winter holidays (or to those that are already holidaying you can apply it now)

1. Simple composition trick, use the rule of third.
The rule of third is a basic guide in photography where an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.

in this image the subject of the image is put slighly to the right of the image and on top of the intersection line

2. Shoot from interesting perspectives
Don't just shoot straight from the front, that cool looking building might be cooler if you take the picture from a slightly different angles than you normally do. Be creative and experiment.

3. Move!!
Don't just stay at one spot! Move around, closer or further a bit from the subject that you are taking the photo of. Sometimes by getting closer you'll get more details from the subject and getting further away could show more in the picture.

4. Sometimes simpler is better
Sometimes a busy scene in a street can be a nice photo but sometimes just a simple picture with not so many things in it would be better. Minimalist style of picture can be cool too! See more HERE!

5. Check where is the light coming from
Shooting with the sun behind you subject could produce some kind of silhouette (unless you are looking for that specific look). So shooting with the sun behind you or at your side could be better. You wouldn't want your friends face to be dark in the picture. Also make sure that the subject is properly lit so you can get more details and it can help to avoid blurry pictures. You can also try to take pictures during the golden hours (one hour before and after sunrise/sunset) and see the results for yourself.

6. Look for details
Be observant. Look for little things that you might have miss if you don't take the time to stop and look. It doesn't have to be very exciting. It can be personal or obscure. It's your own little memory of that place.

7. Take the road less travelled by
The popular places are easy. Anyone can go there, and just about everybody will. Do something different. Explore nearby places. take the road less travelled.  Search out unusual and little known places. Try and find somewhere where the locals aren't used to seeing tourists. Not only will your photography improve, but you'll learn something new about the world and become a better person for it.

8. Respect other people
If you're taking pictures in a busy places sometimes it's easy to forget that there are people that doesn't want their pictures to be taken so a little consideration here would go a long way. Street performer usually is used to have their picture taken but it's a good thing to throw in some coins into the hat if you take the time to stop and take their pictures. If you can avoid it, don't take pictures of homeless of beggars as they might not want to be photographed.

9. Enjoy the view and have fun
Importantly, don't forget that you are on a holiday! So don't forget to enjoy yourself!!
